Welcome to The Victoria Hotel, Est 1895 by Historic Hotels

The Victoria Hotel, Est 1895 by Historic Hotels, stands as a charming nod to Scarborough’s rich past. Nestled at 79 Westborough, this hotel offers guests a slice of history combined with practical convenience. Just a stone’s throw from Scarborough railway station and within easy walking distance of South Bay Beach and the medieval Scarborough Castle, its location is ideal for travelers eager to explore the coastal town’s heritage and natural beauty.

While the hotel carries an air of faded gentility, it provides clean and comfortable accommodations. Guests have noted spacious rooms equipped with large televisions, and the hotel’s pet-friendly policy is a boon for travelers bringing furry companions. The welcoming bar staff create a warm atmosphere, complemented by the perk of a 10% discount for guests—a thoughtful touch that adds value to the stay.

However, some practical details have shown room for improvement. One guest noted a disappointing room assignment overlooking the car park instead of the promised view, along with the absence of basic amenities such as toilet paper upon arrival. Breakfast is not offered onsite, but that opens up the opportunity to savor local flavors at nearby cafés such as The Rendezvous or the popular Wetherspoons, both just moments away from the adjacent SJT Theatre.

The Victoria Hotel excels as a base for cultural visits, especially for theater enthusiasts given its proximity to the SJT Theatre. The hotel’s historical essence blends with modern needs, though occasional lapses remind guests that comfort here comes with a hint of nostalgia rather than luxury. For those seeking a simple, story-rich stay steeped in local charm and within reach of Scarborough’s scenic and cultural highlights, The Victoria Hotel remains a worthy choice.

Was ment to have a nice view from room and ended up with the car park. No toilet roll in the room when we booked in so had to ask for some. Room was lovely and clean with a huge tv. Bar staff was lovely and very welcoming. Love the 10% off for been a guest.

We had an overnight stay in the Victoria Hotel which has an air of faded gentility about it. We were attending a show at the SJT Theatre which is virtually next door so for us the location was superb. There was no breakfast available but no worries I can recommend The Rendezvous cafe just a few doors away across the road from the theatre or if you prefer the Wetherspoons establishment is also a few doors further down from the Rendezvous with their offer of breakfast fare. The bed at the Victoria was large, comfy and the room very spacious. We thought it was very good value and had a nice stay.
